Menstrual Irregularities

Menstrual Irregularities such as dysmennorhea, mennoghragia, leucorrhoea are due mainly to the imbalance of the Vata and Pitta Doshas.  They can be rectified and prevented by effective herbs such as Shatavari, Haritaki, Phalasarpi, Triphala, and Hingvastika Churna.  The therapies like: Abhyanga, Shirodara, Marma and other cleansing therapies are very helpful. 

Pre-Menstrual Syndrome, presenting with the main complaints of emotional disturbances just before the onset of Menstruation is very common among young ladies and can be remediated by therapies which can calm the mind and bring the Vata Dosha under control, such as Shirodhara and Marma. 

Regular exercise, practices like yoga, meditation and good food can control pre-menstrual symptoms to a  great extent. 

Infertility:

Infertility is mainly due to Vata Imbalance and can be equated to hormonal imbalance, emotional stress, lack of energy  and vitality.  Shatavari and Palasarpi can be employed in such cases and total detoxification therapies based on ones constitution can bring about marked changes in the condition.

Menopause:

Menopause which generally ensues at the ages of 45-50 can have negative repercussions such as emotional instability, hot flushes, weakness, and irregular bleeding which can be handled by effective herbs like Shatavari and Kushmandha Lehya that helps in regulating the hormonal imbalances.  Therapies like Shirodhara and Marma have the effect of regulating the emotions and calming the mind and balancing the hormones.

Pregnancy:

In the first trimester of pregnancy, Phalasarpi is recommended as the effective herbal treatment which can strengthen the muscles of the uterus as well as ensure well being of the foetus.  Detoxification therapies just before pregnancy helps in easing pregnancy and delivery.

In order to enhance lactation after pregnancy Satavari is recommended.

Post Natal Depression which is a very common feature after pregnancy is often a reflection of the body’s condition soon after the vigorous process of delivery.  In post natal care, according to Ayurveda, Abhyanga is the salient must do therapy that is prescribed, along with a proper diet regimen which is highly nutritious and aims at alleviating the Vata imbalance.  Ayurveda encourages the woman to be involved in soothing activities like listening to soft music, being very close to nature and reading ancient knowledge during this time.
